Alias Gordon Brown
So far 2008 has seen the rock of stability; the saviour of the world; the provider of the coalition for change; Mr Optimism; Mr Unwavering focus; the destroyer of terrorism—we await 2009 with trepidation. How about Mr Unelectable?

So the government thinks shaving £50 million off the Olympic bill for 2012 is an unavoidable financial cut caused by the present economic woe. As Gordon Brown is a renowned financial expert perhaps he could enlighten us on how saving a mere 0.45% off the present projected cost is a real worthwhile endeavour, as without any shadow of a doubt the total cost of the 2012 Games is going to go through the roof. The cut represents a real kick in the teeth for the sports concerned and a real blow to the general public at large. The government’s plan to get the public back into shape; cut obesity and thereby save billions of NHS outgoings is being seriously put at risk. Now is the perfect time for the government to spend on a nation-wide building programme of sports centres for all—at a much reduced entrance price for the general public. But no the government is only concerned in headline catching initiatives and has no interest in supporting all sports at grass roots level which have no instant return. This is a short-sighted policy which matches the attitude of this short-sighted government.

The life of Gordon: hail the conquering hero.
Is it me, or is the fact that Joe Public of Toilet Seat, Tennessee failed to repay his mortgage got anything to do with the way the economy has been run in this country, I think not. We still have the same incompetent government in place and the same bonus-chasing, incompetent buffoons in charge of our banks.

Decisive action--Brown style.
UK banking in turmoil; Irish banks grabbing depositors money; european bankers at odds with each other; decisive action needed. Ring any bells Gordon?
It's your mantra and it means "firmness of character" and "final" as in decision, so the ball's in your court Gordon. Take decisive action now!

Gordon's nuclear blast
Sacre bleu, Gordon. First you tell us we need a man of vision--not a novice--to overcome our reliance on foreign oil/gas imports then you sell our nuclear industry to the French! Brilliant, at a stroke you have us left us virtually powerless. Only coal to go--no problem, you are the man for the job.

Another week another relaunch from Gordon Brown, and today a pledge to rethink Labour policy and provide for a fairer society!
If we take both of those points on board let's begin by making tax policy fairer. Rather than increase the tax on the working poor ( by taking away the 10 pence band ) he should not only reinstate it he should also raise the starting rate for tax to £15,000 pa; this would have the dual function of allowing the low paid a decent standard of living and provide the unemployed with a real incentive to find work and come off benefits. At the other extreme this could be paid for by raising the tax rate for the 'rich' to 50%; this would be fairer too!
Continuing with the theme of a fairer society, has Gordon Brown ever considered that apprehending and prosecuting the weapon carriers and associated scam artists that present a real and present danger to the public rather than demonising people who overfill their waste bin, would not only be fairer and more just but might actually win him a few votes.
Can you help Gordon Brown to rethink Labour policy and make society fairer? Please add your comments.
